Dwayne Johnson confirms DC League of Super Pets‘ grand credits while promoting the future of the animated franchise. Johnson voices Krypto’s lead character in the film, Superman’s super-powered canine sidekick. Krypto must team up with other super-powered pets to help save their heroic owners. Kevin Hart, Diego Luna, Kate McKinnon, Natasha Lyonne, Vanessa Bayer, Thomas Middleditch and Ben Schwartz round out the cast of animal voices in DC League of Super Petswhile Keanu Reeves voices Batman and John Krasinski plays Superman.
DC League of Super Pets is technically Johnson’s first superhero role, though it’s not tied to the wider DCEU. However, the actor is set to make his live-action superhero debut in October with the highly anticipated black adam. Johnson plays the titular character in the upcoming film, which is set in the DCEU and is expected to introduce a number of new heroes to this universe, including Justice Society of America members Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher, Hawkman, and Cyclone. The actor has constantly talked about wanting to have Black Adam face off against Superman live, but it looks like it might happen in animated form instead (if at all).
In a new post from Johnson, the actor confirms the alleged cameo at the end of DC League of Super Pets, which features a familiar-looking antihero in a black outfit approaching Superman with his own pet. The animal in question is a large dog wearing a cape and a yellow tinted lightning bolt across its chest (with a Batman toy in its mouth), meaning it’s actually Black Adam and his dog Anubis . Johnson says in the post, “You already know how I feel about SUPERMAN vs. BLACK ADAM.” continuing with the phrase he repeatedly uttered about the meeting of the two characters: “The Indestructible Force meets the Immobile Object.” He also discusses the expansion of the DC Universe in both live-action and animation, hinting at more Super Animals movies. Johnson recently appeared at San Diego Comic-Con, where he debuted a new trailer for the upcoming black adam and answered a few questions, including those about Superman and Black Adam. Early reports suggested that Henry Cavill, who plays Superman in the DCEU, would appear at Comic-Con, but that didn’t happen. Fans were upset by this, and when asked who would win between Black Adam and Superman, Johnson said, “I guess it probably all depends on who’s playing Superman. I’ll just say that.“As of today, no news regarding Cavill’s return has been confirmed.
It takes many years to make an animated film, and with the time that has passed since Cavill donned red and blue, this just might be a DC League of Super Pets which beats the live-action crowd into theaters with a Superman/Black Adam encounter. Much would depend on a DC League of Super Pets the sequel being greenlit, of course, which has yet to happen (and perhaps not with the lackluster box office so far). While a spirited match between the two characters (and their pets) could be fun, it’s not exactly the team-up fans are hoping to see. Hopefully WB Discovery can find a way to bring fans what they want in a Cavill Superman/Johnson Black Adam live-action, but for now it’s anyone’s guess whether that happens or not. nope.
